Research Study commissioned* by Conversocial shows companies are finding it difficult to keep up with consumers social media interaction and customer needs / demands.
51% of respondents use social media to communicate with companies
78% of respondents believe social media is here to stay
33% of respondents that communicated with companies felt they were ignored or neglected
88% of respondents with unanswered complaints said they are less likely to do business with the company in the future
32% of respondents were generally satisfied with how companies communicate using social media with them
only 8% of respondents were totally satisfied with the way companies do business on social network sites.
Businesses need to pick up the pace, on internet marketing, and need to develop a plan to manage online visibility especially how to manage their presence and involvement on social media effectively.
Trying to do too much too quickly without setting customer centric goals and the right skills and controls to implement social media effectively could have a negative impact on customer satisfaction.

The smartphone juggernaut continues?in the U.S. According to a new Nielsen report,?49.7 percent of mobile subscribers owned smartphones as of February. That's up from 36 percent a year ago.
Two-thirds of those who got a new phone in the last three months chose a smartphone over a feature phone, the research firm says. ?
Android-based phones lead the U.S. smartphone market with a 48 percent share, while Apple's iPhone is at 32 percent, and BlackBerry is at 11.6 percent.
"Among recent acquirers who got their smartphone within the last three months, 48 percent of those surveyed in February said they chose an Android and 43 percent bought an iPhone," the research firm said. Only 5 percent opted for a BlackBerry.
Another report, from comScore earlier this month, said that Android is on nearly half the phones ?carried by the country's 101 million smartphone subscribers, while about another third use iPhones.
RIM, which makes BlackBerry, has continued to decline as a favorite among U.S. purchasers. In the summer of 2011, Nielsen pegged RIM's U.S. market share at about?20 percent.
In Nielsen's?"State of the Media: The Mobile Media" report, released in December and based on a survey of 25,000 mobile customers,?the research firm said smartphone ownership is predominant among those age 18 to 34.
Nearly two-thirds -- 64 percent -- of 25? to 34-year-olds and 53 percent of 18? to 24-year-olds own smartphones, "and they have led in smartphone penetration compared to other age groups since 2009."

So here we are, week 2 of The Apprentice and it?s time for the Apprentices to show how little creativity they have. Maybe it?s the applicants, maybe it?s the people the BBC selects, maybe it?s the way they edit the programme but, whatever the reason, year after year the Apprentices struggle whenever anything creative is thrown into their paths.
Tonight?s task was to design and then pitch a domestic gadget. Two heavyweight retailers (Amazon and Lakeland) were lined up so that the Apprentices could make sales or make fools of themselves with the simple objective that the team with the most orders afterwards would win.
Team leaders for the week were elected as Jane and Azhar. The boys quickly came up with two ideas? a portable waste bin that compacted organic waste for the kitchen and some rubber gloves for washing up with scourers and sponges attached. The girls struggled (to have a thought between them) but eventually decided upon? a tap cosy (basically a pillow to go over your bath taps) and a screen for the bath which would stop a baby from splashing and be used as an ?actvity centre?.
Both teams split in two and sent half of their members out to do ?market research? whilst the other half, in both cases run by the project managers, did their own thing with seemingly no intention whatsoever of listening to the results of the research. Lip service paid to market research both project managers duly ignored it and went with the ideas that they favoured instead.
In the sales pitches to the retailers neither team appeared impressive although we saw very little of the actual presentations themselves but the girls did excel by messing up the maths and then seemingly being unable to sort it out between them. This reminded me of the memorable Apostrophe-gate scandal from a couple of years ago when none of the Apprentices seemed to know how to use an apostrophe! Apparently, the basics of language and maths are unneccessary for business.
So what did we learn tonight??
Sales training and success tip 1: Don?t think? Do!
Walk the walk don?t talk the talk. Talking about what you are going to do is irrelevant. Saying how great you are is boasting. Bragging about how you will make the sale, win the client or get promoted is pointless? if you?re not going to walk the walk. Success is about doing a good job not talking a good job.
Sales training and success tip 2: Be creative.
If you want to succeed in business today then you need to be creative? creative in your offerings, creative in your marketing, creative in your sales techniques and creative in how you get and stay on top of your game. People talk about ?developing? creativity but I believe everyone has all of the creativity in them that they will ever need. They just need to have confidence in their own ability to tap into it (* see sales leadership tip below).
Sales training and success tip 3: Ditch the ego.
I?ve said it every year that The Apprentice has been on and several times inbetween? Ego has no place in sales. Ego is not the route to success. Indeed, there is a good chance that your ego will get in the way of your success. There is a good chance that your ego will trip you up. There is a good chance that you will not attain what you deserve in your life as long as you hold onto your ego.
Sales training and success tip 4: Sales pitches require structure.
Planning and preparing your sales presentation or sales pitch is critical. Spewing out alphabet soup about your product is easy. Making it engaging, relevant and compelling for your client is where the rubber hits the road. Make sure that your sales pitches are well thought out, well structured and relevant for your clients.
Sales training and success tip 5: Know your figures, know your facts.
I have never seen anything quite as inept as the mess the girls made of figures this week. Had they been on The Dragon?s Den facing Peter or Theo they?d have all been tossed down the wooden stairs and out of the den. Messing up your figures or your facts is inexcusable.
Sales training and success tip 6: Know when to shut up.
Enough said!
Sales leadership tip: Great sales teams are inclusive.
Great sales leaders run inclusive teams. They share. They are open. They have good communication. They work together. They help each other out. They play together. They are in it for each other not against each other. They can cope with healthy competition. * Great sales leaders give encouragement and it?s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.
In the Boardroom?
The boys had won gaining 13,000 orders compared to (a somewhat lucky) 7500 for the girls. They boys went off to The Ivy to celebrate and Jane opted to bring back Maria and Jenna. Predictably, all three girls blamed someone other than themselves for the failure of the task. Unpredictably, Jane tried the X-Factor rain dance pitch about her young son to try and get the sympathy vote to keep her place. Unsurprisingly, Lord Sugar stamped on this line of attack pronto. You need someone less grizzly than him to make that dog hunt.
But she was safe anyway (just) as Lord Sugar sacked Maria.

Taking on home improvements can be exciting and daunting all at the same time. Do the research, get informed and make sure that you don?t fall into the trap of making the most common mistakes that people make when undertaking large renovation projects.
7. Rushing in. Sure, you?re excited and want to get things going but take the time to plan and research your project and get the design decided upon before you get started. Flying by the seat of your pants during a home improvements is not advisable!
6. Taking on more than you can handle. Many people want to do the work themselves either to cut costs or simply because they think DIY will be easy to do. Do the work you know how to do and leave the rest to a trained professional. Hire a general contractor to take care of anything that you can?t handle yourself.
5. Ignoring rules and regulations. Building regulations are there for a reason, and are enforced strictly in most areas. Get to know your local by-laws, and find out which permits are required for your renovation projects. Better to deal with this beforehand rather than deal with the consequences down the road as this could involve paying fines or undoing the completed work.
4. Hiring the wrong contractor. Whoever you hire is going to be in and out of your home and your life for the next while. Be sure that you can live with that and also that you are on the same page when it comes to the work that is to be done. See our blog Tips to Working Well with Your General Contractor for more on this topic.
3. Cutting corners. Trying to cut costs by using cheap materials or doing only cosmetics and avoiding important elements like windows, electrical and plumbing is ill advised. If you can?t afford to do it right, wait until you?ve saved up enough money and take the time to plan and dream while you?re saving.
2. Under budgeting. It is easy to under budget when it comes to home improvement projects since often one thing leads to another as you open up walls, pull out floors or ceilings and find hidden structural problems that have to be addressed right away. Don?t splash out on high-end finishes before the major work has been done and try to have a contingency fund in place if at all possible.
1. Underestimating the time requirement and the chaos involved. Renovations can be stressful, time consuming and even frustrating at times. They are rarely completed as quickly as you?d like, especially if you are living without a kitchen or a bathroom.
Preparing for your home renovation well ahead of time and talking to a home improvement specialist can help you avoid the biggest pitfalls of home renovations.
